he diversity of the scenery within the Kelly Park Backlot of 315ha (800 acres) can only be described as spectacular.
From the expansive rolling New Zealand - European or American pastoral scenes to the primal native bush, its use is only limited by the imagination of filmmakers. There is room for several separate village, town or city sets, beaches and battle scenes or other backdrops without compromising visual effects in panning shots or privacy issues.
The entire area of Kelly Park Backlot is covered with individual scenes ideal for filming. From dams, ponds, rivers, creeks to small lakes in open countryside or surrounded with NZ native fern and flax bushes, small wooded glades to native forest with grassed open clearings. Tropical jungle, English, European or American forest scenes can be filmed here.
The types of fauna and flora, breath taking vistas coupled with the relative feeling of total seclusion all within only a few minutes return back to the Studios, are quite surreal but exist right here in New Zealand at the Kelly Park Film Village.
Kelly Park Film Village has Resource Consent and a permanent Special Film Zone designation for the purpose of filming over the whole property including the backlot thus minimizing the amount of time & cost for permits. There are huge vistas with no visible power lines, houses or buildings giving great distance shots without the need for Post editing, or areas where a neighbourhood or suburb could be transplanted if needed.
